THE XMAX

NEW XMAX COLOR!
(click for full size)

Soft Plastic Lures:
The Rockport Rattler XMAX was developed to fish skinny water and shallow water over grass beds. Its fluorescent pink color gives the appearance of a fish being wounded or bleeding, which is what predator fish look for when chasing live bait.

The XMAX is weightless, meaning it contains no lead, only a hook with a buoyant rattling chamber.

This gives an angler the ability to “walk the dog” with it on top of the water just like a top water bait is used.

Another advantage of the XMAX is that you can use it as a slow sinker with various soft plastics.

So in areas where there is 1 – 2 ˝ ft. of water where grass beds are present, you can work the window of water above those grass beds, let the XMAX sink just a bit and twitch it just as it approaches the top of the grass bed and therefore work that window of water above the grass like no other jig on the market today.

Without lead on the lure your soft plastic will float almost horizontally, just like a baitfish does when it swims giving it a very realistic presentation.

Salt Water Bass Assassins and Rip Tide Lures float, so the slow sinking action with these lures used on an XMAX gives an angler the most realistic life like action to these and other soft plastic lures.

You can also rig the XMAX weedless as shown in the picture below:

Freshwater Anglers are using the XMAX to catch some nice bass over the hard to work Hydrilla:

Another use of the XMAX is an angler can use it under a popping or rattling cork and the weightless XMAX will still give your lure a life like action on minnows or shrimp soft plastic lures:

Live Bait:
Live bait anglers are using the weightless XMAX to put on mullets and fin fish tails or freelining live shrimp.

A finfish or mullet is constantly swimming around and therefore the XMAX is constantly rattling and attracting large predator game fish.

Mullet are easily caught with a cast net, have strong tails and swim “up.” Mullet are also the favorite bait for big Trophy Trout and Bull Reds. An XMAX attached to a mullets tail is lethal for catching those two favorite saltwater fish.

Here is a trout caught by Darryl B. from San Antonio, Texas after he used a cast net to catch some mullet and hook one on an XMAX:
